Now that we’re pretty much done with Madden 24(thank god) im curious how you would rate madden off these categories

Presentation(card art, card animation, how it was formatted, etc)

gameplay(how was the gameplay of the game

content(cards, promos, packs(coin, training, or money))

rewards(from challenges, H2H, field pass, etc

ill start with mine

presentation: 5.5/10, thought other then the commentators in game and the stuff in game wasn’t bad

gameplay(3/10, the amount of temptation of breaking something was so much higher then ever with all the rpo’s and abilities)

content(8.5/10, would have been higher if they didn’t add abilites as xfactors)

rewards(4/10, was so good for like the first 2 months then died)

final rating: 21/40

I personally was happy with gameplay, presentation, content for the most part. Seemed to me though that until late this year it was harder to make coins and pack odds were rough. Note I only played offline this year, no PvP.

At the end of the day though, because of the degree of grind this game requires to keep up, I'm just burned out by Xmas. And after years of Madden, it's just become boring and tiresome for me.

I did pre-order NCAA, but doubt I will buy Madden 25 as the only thing that would push me that direction would be if they allowed NCAA Dynasty Mode graduating classes to be exported to Madden 25 like the old days. But my understanding is it won't. And since they want to keep everyone in Ultimate Team Mode spending money, they don't really want us in Franchise or Dynasty mode anymore.

Whew, thanks for breaking down your scale, i struggled (initially) to understand what the 0 through 40 scale truly meant. I can be a little dense at times.

  • Presentation (4/10) -- i am probably being a bit too generous here, last year, during M23 the card art was consistently THE best part of the entire game. This year we seem to be getting the usual, low effort, AI generated nonsense. I have a feeling they fired a bunch of people and the art "team" might now be a dude or intern.
  • Gameplay (2/10) -- again, two might be a bit too generous. There is some real potential here, but the laggy ass menus, the outdated Frostbite game engine, the buggy ass, inconsistent gameplay is beyond maddening. Nothing short of a miracle i didn't smash a controller on my television.
  • Content (9/10) -- i get it's all basically low effort copy/pasta, but i want to give EA credit for releasing content through the end of June, that's impressive for a company that barely does anything all year. I wouldn't have been surprised if things tapered off dramatically by April or May.
  • Rewards (1/10) -- the "rewards" were a brief shot of dopamine as i punched in mommy's credit card info, the legit NMS folks have barely any content to interact with this year. Gated certain promotions, basically requiring us to pay to even interact with stuff (place 2 blah blah players into your lineup)

Overall, terrible, broken, buggy ass, low-effort from EA. Doesn't appear to be getting any better. I'm such a damn fool that i seriously though i was signing up for simulation fatball. Now i know, yet here i am, waiting for the privilege to fork over more cash to EA to do it all over again. I am without a doubt batsh*t insane. A glutton for punishment.

Here's to hoping EA is too cheap to pay for another exclusive NFL license. May 2026 cannot come soon enough. Shouldn't we start hearing rumors about those type contract negotiations in the not too distant future? I think there is a final optional year on that contract, but i'm obviously not an attorney.

I heard it was so good that some folks wanted to use more than their 5 accounts.

Presentation: 1/10
Literally the exact same as the last few years, commentary and everything with the sole exception of a UI update. Top 3 has never been fixed, forced celebrations at the end of every long play and solo, all bad.

Gameplay: 2/10
You could see this coming years ago, but they are driving longevity in their game with ridiculous arcade 0AP abilities. DDA was still heavily present in H2H, same dumb RPO, trips/gun bunch, dollar spinner spam trash as every other year.

Content: 1/10
Quantity != Quality. Absolute trash promos like Genki Force, Reel Deal, BHM, etc. Nothing innovative, no SB predictor tokens and sets, no dynamically updating cards for team wins, no Gauntlet, every program was a worse version of that in previous years.

Rewards: -5/10
This is where the wheels fell off and caused the mass exodus of OGs from the game. Every single reward was BND trash of one-level-below champion level cards. They QS'd for 1/8th value, so it was really just training, and of course could not be used in sets. Sets themselves were constantly removed from the game (as they started last year) making every single old card obsolete and QS'd for a minimum training amount. They largely killed "investing" or value in old content, and that's not even getting into PowerUps. The pack odds were far worse than ever, and a 25-30% return on value was generous. There were no TVPs the entire year and even the "level rewards" were a loss on coins of 50-75%. The Season Pass and Field Passes were so awful that they weren't worth grinding for, and when you did finally hit the goal, they player you got was obsolete as well. All the "promos" gave away identical players at the same position, and there was no real motivation to do anything in Solo Battles of H2H other than to mindlessly grind for objectives. They throttled XP and leveling up to the point that even full time YouTubers weren't maxing out the worthless passes.

Overall: 0/40
'24 killed what we knew as Madden Ultimate Team for a large number of people, particularly NMS. MH is pretty much dead on the vine and that's as much to do with the game itself than the site. The people here are the CC whales, junkies, or new players, pretty much all the OGs are retired or occasionally checking in, but the mode itself is officially a husk of what it once was.

Presentation - it was whatever, not ugly but I was never impressed 5/10

Gameplay - RPO cheese and everyone getting KOs all over hurts…I’ll say 3/10

content - very rarely impressed with content but they kept me engaged enough 6/10

rewards - the reward sucked ass until now and pack odds are non-existent. I don’t think I’ve pulled a 99 out of a regular pack yet 3/10

Why do presentation or all the other stuff even matter when I got a win in my first game of the night steamrolling a vastly inferior team in Champs, only to give up back-to-back losses on last-minute shot plays that my defense had otherwise been adequately positioned for, followed by a total RNG experience against a team like mine, except that when the going got tough in a tight game, my opponent sold out and went full RPO Roshambo for the rare score?

Long sentence, I know. This game has so much potential, but the UI and AI together are horrid. I'm so sick of Identifier giving away the fact that I know my opponent just called an RPO Alert play, so that he can audible back to a run, and just get another five yards falling forward with Angry Runs. There aren't a lot of games where a player can have leverage and know what his opponent is about to do, and somehow that turns into a loss.

The games are too long to end with that level of frustration and such weak rewards when I catch as many breaks as my opponent does. Everything is so pretty, and there are parts of the game that are really, really good. Unfortunately, cheap plays and bad AI turn a solid 9 into a 2. If all parties honor not using cheesy non-football tactics, the game is really good. Unfortunately, you can't really experience the game that way very often.

Presentation - I couldn't care less about card art and the rest was just dull. Way too many folders meaning doing something as simple as selling a card you just opened is a hassle. I can access sets in a few different places but sometimes what I see makes no sense? Why can't I search for just 99OVR players? Why do I only get 100 results? Etc. etc. etc. On field stuff was fine but so many things missing from what is supposed to be an AAA game its a joke. No weather in H2H. No wearing down of the field. Players getting dirty even when playing indoors on turf. Sideline characters looking awful. The same commentary year after year after year and it still sometimes makes no sense. I could go on. 2/10

Gameplay - This game should have moved off Frostbite years ago. Its graphically fine but playing the game is uneven and the whole thing is buggy and inconsistent. The over-reliance on animations and lack of any development around weight, momentum, ball trajectory etc means its often weird to look at. Do card OVR's mean anything at all? No one knows and it's not 'simulation football' so fails on its central premise. Adding AP and X Factors just makes it worse. Catch knockouts make me want to eat my controller. Solos frequently don't work and H2H can be laggy. People can still disconnect and get a win. It's 2024. This is, what, the 15th iteration of the same game or something? How can a game, any game, "make small steps forward" for 15 years and never get anywhere?! 2/10

Content - There's generally plenty to do it's just a shame that it's the same thing over and over and over. Rush for 30 yards, get a stop, pass 3 times etc. Zero imagination. A lot of the Promos have no internal logic, almost like someone just decided to add a bunch of cards and call it Influx or Reflux or whatever the f*ck it was? Player choices seem equally unplanned at times and there's been some very weird OVR's. I run an NMS TT though and have been competitive all year so I guess I've no big complaints. 6/10

Rewards - The grind is real. Some rewards only possible by buying packs. Getting sh*tty Gold Player packs in Season 7 makes no sense and don't get me started on the pile of BND zero value sh*t I have in my binder! H2H rewards are really bad. Superbowl wins should net you more than a handful of 90+ cards. How about cards that can ONLY be won if you win a Superbowl? So many things they could do but it takes imagination and effort so, yeah, f*ck that. Let's face it, these bastards want you to spend $$. I refuse to do that so I put up with it. 4/10

Total - 14/40

A PS5 game in 2024 should not be this bad and the overall gaming experience has hardly changed since Madden 25 10 years ago. EA has no incentive to improve and suffer no penalty by churning out sh*t like this and cynically calling it a "make or break" year. If nothing happens after it's obvious to everyone it's a 'break' year, who cares? Not EA, not their shareholders and not the NFL, that's for sure.

I know I’m the only person like this, but I kinda enjoyed all the broken endgame players this year. Ea needs to realize that there are some plays that are just too good and need to be taken out. Coin packs were awful, (as always) but there were some decent $10-$20 dollar special offers. The rewards from promos were good. I’m pretty sure I got at least one champion from every single “big promo” in the game.
