ROCKINGHAM COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyM E D I A R E L E A S E : Rockingham County Jail Inmate Attempts to Solicit Eden Woman and a Juvenile to Murder Associate and Local Attorney Date of News Release: Tuesday, May 28, 2024 [Rockingham County, N.C.]— Rockingham County Sheriff's Detectives have learned through investigation that Tevion Antonio Flippen, 21, an inmate at the Rockingham County Jail, had attempted to solicit Kelesha Jene Anderson, 25, and a Juvenile to Commit the First-degree Murders of one of Tevion's associates and a local area attorney. Due to safety concerns, identifying information about these intended victims is not being made available by the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office at this time. Information about the juvenile charged concerning these solicitations cannot be released. During the course of the investigation, multiple search warrants were executed, resulting in the seizure of multiple electronic devices, Cocaine, and an AR15 rifle. This is an ongoing investigation. He was already incarcerated in the Rockingham County Jail under a $800,000 secured bond on drug trafficking and weapons charges. He received additional "NO BOND HOLDS" on these murder solicitation charges. ROCKINGHAM COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyM E D I A R E L E A S E : REIDSVILLE MAN ARRESTED ON SECOND-DEGREE SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF A MINOR CHARGES FOLLOWING SEARCH WARRANT Date: Tuesday, June 18, 2024 [Rockingham County, N.C.]— Acting on a Cybertip from the North Carolina State Bureau Of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, Rockingham County Sheriff's Investigators conducted a Search Warrant at 159 Circle Loop in Reidsville earlier today. After conducting a search warrant at this location, investigators arrested Jeffrey Wayne Whitaker, 63, of 159 Circle Loop Reidsville, N.C. They charged him with two counts of Second-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. Whitaker is on the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry for a June 1982 conviction in Forsyth County for 2nd Degree Sex Offense. Sheriff Sam Page and the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the North Carolina State Bureau Of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the Invictus Task Force for assisting with this investigation. Mr. Whitaker was taken before the Magistrate and received NO BOND because this arrest occurred while Whitaker was already on Pretrial Release for an Indecent Exposure charge on which he is awaiting trial. ROCKINGHAM COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICE5 days agoAgencyM E D I A R E L E A S E : TWO CHARGED IN ATTEMPT TO SMUGGLE CONTRABAND TO AN INMATE IN THE ROCKINGHAM COUNTY JAIL Date: Tuesday, July 2, 2024 [Rockingham County, N.C.]— On July 2, 2024, Rockingham County Sheriff's Investigators charged two individuals for attempting to smuggle contraband into the Rockingham County Jail. BRIANNA LOUISE COCHRAN, 23, of 1619 Pecan Rd. Reidsville, N.C., was charged with the Delivery of a Schedule III Controlled Substance and Possessing a Controlled Substance at a Local Confinement Facility. She was placed in the Rockingham County Detention Facility under a $25,000 secured bond on these charges. DEVONTE KIEWAN McCAIN, 32, who is currently an inmate at the Rockingham County Detention Facility and was the intended recipient of the contraband, was charged with Conspiracy to Deliver a Schedule III Controlled Substance and Conspiracy to Possess a Controlled Substance at a Local Confinement Facility. McCain was issued a $40,000 secured bond on these new charges. THE CONTRABAND WAS IDENTIFIED, INTERCEPTED, AND CONFISCATED BEFORE REACHING THE INMATE HOUSING AREA OF THE JAIL FACILITY. As of July 2, 2024, medications of any kind brought to the Rockingham County Detention Center by the public (friend, family member, or acquaintance) for an inmate will NOT be accepted. This includes "over-the-counter" medications. ROCKINGHAM COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICEa week agoAgencyM E D I A R E L E A S E : Man Armed with Gun Enters Stokesdale Industrial Jobsite, Assaults Three Former Coworkers Date: Tuesday, June 25, 2024 [Rockingham County, N.C.]— On Monday, June 24, 2024, at around 8:30 a.m., Rockingham County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to Ontex, an industrial plant located at 9300 NC-65, Stokesdale, N.C., in response to reported assaults that had occurred at the site. Upon their arrival, Deputies learned that JUAN ANTONIO POLANCO-FRIAS, a former employee of CK Steel, a company contracted to do work at Ontex, had unknowingly entered the job site, where he waited for the arrival of three former coworkers of CK Steel. Upon the arrival of the three former coworkers, POLANCO-FRIAS confronted them and brandished a firearm. POLANCO-FRIAS proceeded to beat one of the individuals with an extension cord, then pointed the gun at that individual and made him beat the other two with the extension cord, threatening to shoot them if they did not comply. POLANCO-FRIAS then fled the scene, and the assaulted individuals called 9-1-1 for assistance. JUAN ANTONIO POLANCO-FRIAS, 36, of 2075 Cedar Rd. Lot 33 Asheboro, N.C., was located and taken into custody later in the day by the Asheboro Police Department on three counts of False Imprisonment, three counts of Communicating Threats, and three counts of Assault, Inflicting Serious Injury in connection with the incident that occurred at Ontex. Asheboro Police also charged POLANCO-FRIAS with Possession of Methamphetamine, and he had a number of outstanding other arrest warrants out of Randolph County upon his arrest. JUAN ANTONIO POLANCO-FRIAS was placed in the Randolph County Detention Facility under an $11,000 secured bond. The three assault victims are expected to recover from their injuries. ROCKINGHAM COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICE2+ weeks agoAgencyM E D I A R E L E A S E : High-Speed Pursuit Leads Law Enforcement Through Pittsylvania, Caswell Rockingham and Henry Counties Date: Tuesday, June 4, 2024 [Rockingham County, N.C.]— Yesterday at around 10:11 a.m., Rockingham County Sheriff's Deputies were notified of a high-speed chase involving a yellow-in-color Toyota Prius heading towards Rockingham County from Caswell County. The Caswell County Sheriff's Office was in pursuit of the vehicle. The Prius had been reported stolen from Caswell County, and the pursuit started in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, when law enforcement officials located and tried to stop the vehicle. The Prius headed back into Caswell County from Virginia, then into and across Rockingham County, and into Henry County, Virginia. During this long pursuit, the Prius frequently reached speeds of between 90 - 100 mph. The vehicle was stopped by Henry County Sheriff's Deputies in Henry County, Virginia. At that time, the driver fled the car on foot into the surrounding woods. Law enforcement quickly apprehended the driver and the vehicle's four other occupants. Upon further investigation, the four passengers of the stolen Prius stated they had tried repeatedly to get the driver to stop the vehicle, and he refused, holding them against their will. Rockingham County Sheriff's Deputies have charged the driver of the vehicle, MARCUS LEDELL PRUNTY, 51, of Danville, Va., with one count of Felony Flee to Elude and four counts of Second Degree Kidnapping. He is currently being held in the Henry County Jail, awaiting extradition on these charges. "I want to thank the Deputies from Pittsylvania and Henry Counties Sheriff's Offices in Virginia, the Virginia State Police, the Caswell County Sheriff's Office, Rockingham County Communications Dispatchers, and our own Rockingham County Sheriff's Deputies for their professionalism and for working together so well. Together, they were able to put an end to this pursuit and took this individual into custody," said Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page.
